Today I will post some pictures of my first card weaving project.  It is nearly done.  I look forward to taking it to Lady Elewys so that she can teach me how to finish it off and warp a new project.

My first card weaving project in process.  My mentor, Lady Elewys, helped me warp the yarn and get started at Ursulmus this year, then I took it home to finish.

Greetings!  My name is Lady Avelyn de Mowbray.  I live in the Shire of Midhaven in the great Kingdom of An Tir!  There is much to say, but I will start with some general information about myself and add as time goes passes.
Avelyn is the name I will use here as it is my name when participating with the SCA.  Lord Michael FitzGeoffrey and I are married and have three wonderful young children.  They fill our lives with joy, activity, and constant change.
I am currently the Arts and Sciences (A&S) Minister in the Shire of Midhaven.  As such, I plan monthly A&S/social nights for the Shire as well as A&S activities for other events throughout the year.  I have been working to encourage the members of our Shire in the arts and sciences.  I am looking forward to our annual A&S competition in June.  I am hopeful that we may have multiple new people entering and sharing their projects.  I also serve as the Newsletter Editor for the Kingdom of An Tir's Costumer's Guild.
Since joining the SCA about 4 years ago, I have learned to sew and create period clothing for my family.  I have also begun to teach others in this process.  My mentor and teacher is Elewys of Finchingefeld, GdS, JdL. Last year we built Yurts together.  Earlier this year, she started teaching me to Card Weave.  There are many things that I am learning and hope to share in the near future.
For now, I must close and wish you well!
